Portugal perde em Amesterdão na segunda jornada do REC

Melhor em Campo: Marta Pedro, novamente. A jogadora conseguiu ser uma presença importante em campo, muito eficaz defensivamente e bastante confiante coma bola na mão, mesmo que não tivesse o espaço que gostaria. Como consequência deste trabalho defensivo, a jogadora saiu lesionada, e esperamos que recupere rápido para ajudar a equipa na próxima jornada

No dia 6 de Abril, as Lobas entraram em campo para jogar contra os Países Baixos, no primeiro jogo disputado fora de casa nesta edição do Rugby Europe Championship. Depois de uma derrota contra a seleção espanhola, Portugal entrava em campo com vontade de vencer.

On April 6th, the Lobas took to the field to play against the Netherlands, in their first away match of this edition of the Rugby Europe Championship. After a loss to the Spanish team, Portugal came in eager for a win.

O jogo começou com algum nervosismo de parte a parte, com ambas equipas a quererem demonstrar que estavam em campo para competir pelo resultado. A posse de bola dos primeiros minutos caía para as Lobas, que tinham alguma dificuldade em quebrar a linha laranja. Apesar de recorrerem bastante ao jogo ao pé, notava-se que as Lobas, em velocidade, tinham excelentes armas de ataque. Por outro lado, as jogadoras dos Países Baixos defendiam muito bem e sempre que tinham a bola na mão, privilegiavam as avançadas. No entanto, nenhuma das equipas conseguia concretizar em pontos as suas investidas.

The game started with some nervousness on both sides, as each team wanted to show they were there to compete. The Lobas dominated possession in the early minutes but struggled to break through the orange defensive line. Despite relying heavily on kicking, it was clear that the Lobas had strong attacking weapons when using their speed. On the other side, the Dutch players defended well and prioritized using their forwards whenever they had the ball. Still, neither team managed to convert their efforts into points.

Aos 17 minutos Portugal entrou pela primeira vez nos 22 metros opostos, com um alinhamento lançado por Inês Marques e conquistado por Sara Moreira. Contudo, alguma impaciência no ataque permitiu o turnover e acabou por não fazer avançar o marcador do lado português.

In the 17th minute, Portugal entered the opposition’s 22 for the first time, after a lineout thrown by Inês Marques and won by Sara Moreira. However, some impatience in attack led to a turnover, and the scoreboard remained unchanged for Portugal.

No entanto, aos 28 minutos, a equipa dos Países Baixos inaugurou o marcador, após uma saída de 8 que permitiu à bola chegar até à ponta direita (7-0). Impulsionadas pelo ensaio marcado, as neerlandesas continuaram a atacar mas foram impedidas nas suas tentativas, primeiramente por Marta Pedro que conseguiu impedir um ensaio, e depois através de um excelente esforço defensivo coletivo. Ao intervalo, vantagem mínima da equipa da casa e tudo para jogar na segunda metade do encontro.

In the 28th minute, the Netherlands opened the scoring after a number 8 pick that allowed the ball to reach the right wing (7-0). Motivated by the try, the Dutch continued to attack but were stopped in their attempts—first by Marta Pedro, who prevented a try, and then by a strong collective defensive effort. At halftime, the home side held a narrow lead, with everything still to play for in the second half.

A segunda parte começou com posse neerlandesa, com um jogo acelerado e muito vertical. Esta mudança de atitude deu frutos aos 43 minutos, com um ensaio da formação neerlandesa após uma boa finta de passe (14-0). Oito minutos depois, a seleção dos Países Baixos aumentava a diferença no marcador novamente através de uma transmissão rápida da bola, que culminou no 3.º ensaio da equipa de laranja.

The second half began with Dutch possession, a fast-paced and direct game. This shift in attitude paid off in the 43rd minute with a try from the Dutch side after a well-executed dummy pass (14-0). Eight minutes later, the Netherlands widened the gap again through a quick ball movement that ended in their third try.

A história voltou a repetir-se aos 56 minutos de jogo, deixando o resultado em 26-0. A eficácia das neerlandesas associada à velocidade da sua transmissão era assim premiada com pontos, em particular pelas mãos da ponta direita, Kika Mulling.

The story repeated itself in the 56th minute, bringing the score to 26-0. The Dutch team’s efficiency, combined with their speed in moving the ball, was rewarded—particularly through the hands of right winger Kika Mulling.

Aos 70 minutos, o resultado era 33-0, num jogo bastante duro para as Lobas. Aos 72 minutos, Daniela Correia conseguiu finalmente inaugurar o marcador português, após uma marcação rápida de uma penalidade. Destaque para a boa quebra de linha de Adelina Costa que deu origem à falta dos Países Baixos.

By the 70th minute, the score was 33-0 in what was proving to be a tough match for the Lobas. In the 72nd minute, Daniela Correia finally got Portugal on the board after a quick tap penalty. Special mention goes to Adelina Costa’s powerful line break, which forced the Dutch infringement.

O resultado terminou com 40 pontos para os Países Baixos e 5 para Portugal, num jogo muito físico e em que a ofensiva laranja levou a melhor.

Portugal vira agora atenções para o jogo contra a Suécia, o último deste Women’s Championship 2025.

AThe final score was 40 points to the Netherlands and 5 to Portugal, in a very physical match where the orange attack came out on top.
